More mix-age.
I just had an idea for a mix to use on the iPod or burning to CD. My "Morning Mix". If you want the whole thing or just a song or two or three... just comment and I'll be happy to oblige, I should have most of these on my hard drive but if I don't I can find them here for you easily enough. Onward.

The morning. I want music that will both get me going but is also more gentle at the same time. It has to put me in a good frame of mind. I'm not in the mood most mornings for anything very heavy, that is for later as the day progresses. Your morning playlist can include songs that directly reference the morning or just songs that you *like* hearing in the morning. Here's mine:
*Morning Has Broken - Cat Stevens.
Just beautiful. Did you know that Stevens didn't write this? It's an old Christian hymn written by Eleanor Farjeon. Love the piano, and his wonderful soaring vocals. "Morning has broken, like the first morning. Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird. Praise for the singing, praise for the morning. Praise for the springing fresh from the world..."
*Good Morning, Good Morning - The Beatles.
Well what could rouse you and says "morning" more than a crowing cockerel? John Lennon was inspired to write this one watching a cereal commercial... for Corn Flakes. "Good morning, good morning, good morning-ah."
*Beautiful Day - U2.
Sets you in the right frame of mind. "It's a beautiful day, don't let it get away."
*59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy) - Simon and Garfunkel.
"Slow down, you move too fast. You got to make the morning last just kickin' down the cobblestones, lookin' for fun and feelin' groovy..."
*Good Day Sunshine - The Beatles.
This one is just... happy. Sweet and light. I listen to it and I can just feel the sun shining on my face. "I need to laugh, and when the sun is out I've got something I can laugh about. I feel good, in a special way. I'm in love and it's a sunny day. Good day sunshine ..."
*Good Morning, Starshine - Oliver.
"The earth says hello. You twinkle above us, we twinkle below..."
*Chelsea Morning - Joni Mitchell.
"And the light poured in like butterscotch and stuck to all my senses..."
*Wake Up - Arcade Fire.
Evolves into something so large, so amazing.
*La Ballade de Lily Rose - Vanessa Paradis.
Just because I kinda like it. And her. She's cool, and the woman has Johnny Depp to wake up next to so helllllll yeah. Johnny plays on this track I believe come to think of it. It's a sweet song for their daughter, in French.
*Hella Good - No Doubt.
Yeah a little something more to liven things up and get me moving. No doubt.
*Another Day - Paul McCartney.
"So sad, so sad." Yes, really it's a very lonely song. But the "do do do do do do it's just another day..." is perfect for heading out the door into the rat race.
Coffee? Tea? A bagel? It's alright, the weekend will be here soon enough and you can sleep in.
So, good mornin', good mornin'!
Sunbeams will soon smile through,
Good mornin', good mornin', to you!
