Oscar time is upon us again.

Time for my picks and predictions! This year, I'll go with this meme :

With the Academy Awards coming up this Sunday, what are your predictions and hopes for the five major categories?

1. Who do you predict will win Best Supporting Actor? Who do you think should win?

2. Who do you predict will win Best Supporting Actress? Who do you think should win?

Cate Blanchett - I'm Not There
Ruby Dee - American Gangster
Saoirse Ronan - Atonement
Amy Ryan - Gone Baby Gone
Tilda Swinton - Michael Clayton

Prediction: Ruby Dee (saw bits of her performance and she was great)
Pick: Cate Blanchett (so much love for Cate and she was amazing in this film!)

3. Who do you predict will win Best Actor? Who do you think should win?

Nominees:
George Clooney - Michael Clayton
Daniel Day-Lewis - There Will Be Blood
Johnny Depp - Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Tommy Lee Jones - In the Valley of Elah

Prediction: Daniel Day-Lewis (he'll trump the competition... just watch)

Don't get out to movies as much as I'd like to these days. And I feel like every year at Oscar time I want to catch up and see all these movies. I will be making the post Oscars trip to Blockbuster no doubt.

I made notation of this on Donny's community, but just in case I'll do it here too. Donny fans on my list, he's going to be there. He'll be correspondent for Insider. He'll have Debbie with him as well, so I'm hoping for some good pictures of the two of them on the red carpet come Monday morning.

Every year it seems, there's the one category where all conventional wisdom goes out the window, and someone wins that you wouldn't expect. As much as I love Daniel Day Lewis and his performance in There Will Be Blood, and hope he wins after losing in 2002, I could see Depp getting the upset.
