Video killed the radio star...

Top Five on Friday @ The Music Memoirs

Top 5 music videos from the 80s.

I love this one!! Makes me pine for the days when MTV meant MUSIC television and not the utter crap they give us now. Here we go...

1. Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel (1986)

My favorite. Nothing before looked like this. This award winning video still tops lists of greatest videos ever.

2. Thriller - Michael Jackson (1982)

Zombies ahoy! Makeup by Rick Baker, directed by John Landis, this one played out like a Hollywood horror feature. Fantastic.

3. Take On Me - A-ha (1985)

Just really neatly done with the comic effects. I kinda got into the story of it too.

4. Don't Come Around Here No More - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (1985)

Tom is cast as the Mad Hatter in this weird trip into Wonderland. Watch them hack into that "cake" Alice!

5. Land of Confusion - Genesis (1986)

Featuring puppets from the hit UK show "Spitting Image", in it the band skewers Ronald Reagan.

All great choices (kicking myself now for not remembering that Tom Petty video when putting together my list - it's one of my favourites).

Damn! And Duh! Awesome list. We shared 2. Can't believe we didn't even think of Thriller.

How did I forget "Take On Me"? At least I picked some videos other people might not mention.

We matched on 'Sledgehammer' and 'Thriller' - two of the greatest videos ever made, IMHO. And the 'Land of Confusion' video was classic, too. Excellent list!
