Movie meme update:
11."Well, then, I just HATE you... and I hate your... ass... FACE!"
^ The only one that wasn't guessed. You guys did pretty good! By the way, the one remaining there is a quote from Corky St.Clair (Christopher Guest) from "Waiting For Guffman". I love all of Guest's "mockumentaries" dearly. You all did really well! Yay!! :)
I guess according to the meme I'm supposed to tell you why they made the list, so I suppose I will.
1. "Chicks cannot hold the smoke. That's what it is." [The Breakfast Club]
I just adore John Hughes' movies. This one is my favorite save for Ferris. My brother and I could quote whole chunks of dialogue from this film!
2. "Obviously, doctor, you've never been a thirteen year old girl." [The Virgin Suicides]
Just a haunting, sad, gorgeously photographed, well acted story. I love Sofia Coppola's direction. Her "Lost In Translation" didn't disappoint me either.
3. "Oh, I wouldn't know, sir. I don't shop there. I'd rather die." [What's Eating Gilbert Grape?]
The movie that REALLY got me into Johnny Depp as an actor back then. I mean, I watched 21 Jump Street and thought he was a hottie and everything, but he really did it for me here. Leo did too. Touching, funny, awesome film.
4. "There happens to be alot you don't know, Mr. Smarty Man." [American Beauty]
Suburbia's dark underbelly. Not as perfect as it seems. Kevin Spacey was magnificent. The whole cast was. Annette Bening's line here... it said it all. I guess I liked the film so much because it makes you look at yourself a little more closely too. The film's famous tagline? "Look closer." It's true!
5. "In a musical, nothing dreadful ever happens." [Dancer In The Dark]
Bjork's performance here was tragically beautiful. This is one you either love or hate. I was enthralled by it. It affected me and stayed with me for days after I viewed it. Lars Von Trier's direction made this a work of art.
6. "Phone call from God... now if it had been collect, it would have been daring!" [Dead Poet's Society]
Another movie that affected me for days afterward. Inspiring, and sad too. You leave the film with the words "Carpe diem" in your head and can't help but want to go out there and make your life extraordinary! Robin Williams shone brightly. One of his finest performances.
7. "The question isn't 'what are we going to do,' the question is 'what aren't we going to do?'" [Ferris Bueller's Day Off]
What can I say? I adore this film!! I spent alot of time in Chicago growing up and this is a wonderful loving tribute to that great city! Another one I can quote whole chunks of dialogue from.
8. "You can milk just about anything with nipples." [Meet The Parents]
Robert DeNiro was so great! This movie had me howling with laughter more times than not. I like to put it on when I need something lighthearted and that will make me laugh out loud.
9. "Put yer tongue away, it looks disgustin' hangin' out, all pink and naked." [A Hard Day's Night]
It's the Beatles. Enough said. Haha! My favorite of their movies.
10."I always thought it'd be better to be a fake somebody than a real nobody." [The Talented Mr. Ripley]
Wow. Just wow. Jude Law. Matt Damon. Amazing film. Unpredictable and artistic. You should also read the book, by Patricia Highsmith. Excellent!
11."Well, then, I just HATE you... and I hate your... ass... FACE!" [Waiting For Guffman]
See my comments above. I adore Guest's stuff!
12."I know you don't think I'm giving this 4 million dollars to a bunch of nuns!" [Ghost]
This movie's last several minutes still never fail to make me cry buckets. Just great. There are creepy moments and funny moments too, a really good story. Whoopi was too great! :)
