I'm stunned and saddened. I've followed Tony for a long time. Loved his books and his travel / food TV shows.

Please, if you or someone you know is struggling, reach out. There is help.

David Cassidy, 70s Pop Culture Idol, has died.

When I was five, I was in love with Monkee Davy Jones. Then David Cassidy came along. He was the first REAL teen heart throb I can remember. After David with me it was Donny Osmond. My "triumverate" as it were? I remember playing Partridge Family with my friends... I'd always be Tracy... and we would mime to the records. Or my bestie and I would sit around and listen to them and always watched the show. His music was very much a part of my childhood.

RIP, David, and thank you for being a part of my growing up years.

My heart goes out to this family. Godspeed, Debbie. A little more sunshine has gone.

Sadly, Carrie Fisher has died.. She'd had a massive heart attack on a plane a few days ago. CPR was administered until she reached the hospital where she was put on a ventilator. She was 60.

Rest in peace, Princess.

2016 strikes again. I tell you it's been brutal.

Thank you for your creative contribution to the world, Greg. This year has been especially hard regarding those we've lost.

Florence Henderson, best known for her role as Carol Brady, matriarch of The Brady Bunch, has died.

Godspeed, Florence. The show is still in reruns today, and new generations have grown up with the Bradys.

This bill, signed into law by Governor Pat McCrory (R) last month, requires that people use the public restrooms and showers of their biological sex rather than that of their preferred gender identification.

Ringo cancels his June 18 concert at the Koka Booth Amphitheater in Cary, following the footsteps of Bruce Springsteen, who canceled an April 10 performance at Greensboro Colosseum.

“I’m sorry to disappoint my fans in the area, but we need to take a stand against this hatred,” Mr. Starr said in a statement. “Spread peace and love.”“How sad that they feel that this group of people cannot be defended,” he added.

Cyndi Lauper will play her June 4 date at Duke Energy Performing Arts Center in Raleigh, stating she'll donate all the proceeds to Equality North Carolina.

“The best way I know how to make a difference is what I have strived to do my whole life and that is show up for my family, friends, and fans in the L.G.B.T. community,” she said in a statement. “So, for that reason I think the best way I can do my part is to turn my show in Raleigh on June 4th into an entire day to build public support to repeal HB2.”

Justin Bieber and Beyoncé are due to play in NC soon, but neither artist has announced anything about the issue yet.

Shirley Temple Black, dimpled and beloved child star, has died.

She would grow up to be U.S. Ambassador to Ghana and Chief Protocol of the U.S. as well.

I remember watching her movies as a child when they'd come on and loving her. RIP, lovely lady.

Raymond Daniel Manzarek, keyboardist and founding member of The Doors, has died.

He passed away May 20 in Rosenheim Germany after a battle with bile duct cancer. He was 74.

Ray, thank you for sharing your music, your talent, with the world. The Doors sound, and Jim's words wouldn't have been the same, wouldn't have come to life, without you. You're up there jamming with Jim right now, I just know it. We'll miss you.

Woodstock Legend Richie Havens dies at home of a heart attack at 72.

Richie was the opening act of the Woodstock Festival in 1969. He wasn't originally slated to go first, but the actual opening band, Sweetwater, was tangled up in traffic so on he went. He was asked to do a longer set because several artists had yet to arrive. He performed and held that crowd for three hours.

It's rather apt that he passed on today, Earth Day, as he was devoted to and a champion of many ecological issues.

Failing health forced him to announce his retirement in 2012.

Film critic Roger Ebert dies.

I'm in shock. Just yesterday I read his blog announcement that the cancer had returned and that he'd be slowing down, writing selectively. Then today...

I grew up watching Roger with Gene Siskel on "At The Movies", living in the Chicago area for many years. He WAS the movies. I might not have always agreed with him but he had my respect. There is now a hole that nobody will be quite able to fill. He will be greatly missed.

I like to think he and Gene are now reunited and debating movies together, just as they always have.

Much love goes out to his family and loved ones.

See you at the movies.

I'm intrigued, and feel like Behind The Candelabra will either be great or majorly suck. But it's Soderbergh directing so I have high expectations.

That said, my mom got the mail today and has already commandeered my copy of Entertainment Weekly to read the cover story.

Anyway, *sigh* I have to let her read this first or I'll get no peace. Later.

My Bonnie lies over the ocean...

Tony was an instrumental figure in the Beatles' rise to fame. The band became friends with Sheridan during their days playing in Hamburg. The band played on the single "My Bonnie", as well as "The Saints (When the Saints Go Marching In)" and a few more, credited as "The Beat Brothers". In the Beatles legend, a young man from Liverpool named Raymond Jones went in to NEMS, the record store owned and operated by Brian Epstein and his family, and requested "My Bonnie", which set in motion the chain of events that would bring Epstein and the Beatles together.

Singer Patti Page Dies at 85

I know a few of her songs via my grandparents and mom, and loved "Mockingbird Hill" as a child:

Then there's "Tennessee Waltz" and "Old Cape Cod"... and can't forget "Doggie in the Window". :)

Godspeed, Patti.
