Just made a BPAL post for Lilith's Fifth Birthday Update in case anyone's interested. I'll make another when the Halloween scents go live.

EDIT! I just got in a decant circle for everything.

Also just ordered a bottle of Capax Infiniti (Trading Post) ... because how can I not? Those notes, a daddy's love for his litle girl, just... everything. OMG

I've updated my beauty blog to talk about the 'Weenies going live on BPAL! YAY!

BATS DAY BPALS!!!

OMG!! I have put out feelers for fairies on the forum and in [livejournal.com profile] sinandsalvation so hopefully I can get my hands on some bats! However if any of you BPALers on my list are able to aquire any I'd even love decants for now if you're willing?

EDIT! 5-29-30

I caught a Bats Day Fairy and the little buggers are now winging their way toward me! WOO!
hippie_chick: (Bowie / Jareth / my hair!!)

I'm.... giddy! And so glad these are not limited editions! *squees!*

They're right here!

Jareth: You remind me of the babe.
Goblin: What babe?
Jareth: The babe with the power.
Goblin: What power?
Jareth: The power of voodoo.
Goblin: Who do?
Jareth: You do.
Goblin: Do what?
Jareth: Remind me of the babe.

Updated my Beauty Blog. My BPAL Halloweenie update post.

My head is still spinning, y'all.
hippie_chick: (BPAL)
I just made a three bottle order. I was looking at the scents in The District and decided on two for now:

Crib Girls Seven honeys under one unkempt roof, with fiery-tart cubeb and dusty cardamom.

Countess Willie Chocolate plum musk, red musk, amaretto, candied fruits, and red ginger.

And the Metamorphosis (Butterflies and Moths) has an update.

Pussy Orange blossom honey, brown sugar, saffron, tonka absolute, and tobacco leaf.

Looking forward to these. Notes that I love in each.
hippie_chick: (BPAL)
I'm getting all three... I mean I can't pass this up being coulrophobic myself! LOL!! And I've loved all the other monster baits so freaking much.

http://www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com/limited.html

Bones Trombone
Pie crust, smears of blueberry marshmallow cream and lemon meringue, and hemlock.

Knockout Drops
Bourbon vanilla, white mint, and white chocolate with a squirt of lemon meringue and a dribble of absinthe.

Thunder and Blazes
Leather, crushed grass, mud, sangre de grado, and crushed lemon candy.
hippie_chick: (BPAL)
BPAL (http://www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com) is looking wonderful this Yuletide! The Nutcracker and A Christmas Carol blends are all looking quite good. And some favorites have been resurrected, other new blends added. I wish I could just yoink one of everything but alas I am forced to pick and choose. For right now I've just placed an order of four bottles with the Lab.

Posting mostly for my own benefit, to keep track.

Details of my ordering this way... )

I need to go now and check on any reviews if they've come in.

I just realized I haven't posted a review or reviews in awhile. I should. Maybe I'll do one today, just need to decide what scent I want to review first.

Got my Punkie Night and Blue Pumpkin Floss from Halloweenies 2010 as well as Paper Kite and Great Gray Witch from the Butterflies and Moths. Scored a few wonderful frimps too. Mmmm.... it's been too long since I made an order from the Lab. :)
hippie_chick: (BPAL / Stardust)
My favorite time of year is FAST approaching! Where the hell did this year GO, anyway? The wonderful Halloweenie scents are up at BPAL for 2010!

I purchased these two:

Blue Pumpkin Floss
Puffy clouds of pumpkin candyfloss with a trickle of blackberry juice.

Punkie Night
This is a light-hearted scent: apple orchards, bright cranberries, and a touch of warm cider.

And from the "Butterfly Effect" collection got:

Great Grey Witch
Orris root, Roman chamomile, white sugar, ambergris accord, and cimarrón.

Paper Kite
Coconut, white sugar, angelica, and black pepper.

From a Haloweenie decant circle I have ordered:

All Souls 2010
An incense blend that invokes the higher qualities of mercy and compassion, mingled with the soft, sugared currant scent of offertory soul cakes.

Boo 2010
Eerie billows of spun sugar, fluttering white cotton, and sheets of cream.

The Hag
Black musk, bay leaves, galangal, bourbon vetiver, blackcurrant, and rum.

Pumpkin Latte
Espresso, pumpkin syrup, smoky vanilla bean, milk, raw sugar, and a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg.

Lamb's Wool
A popular holy day beverage in 18th century Ireland: roasted apples mashed into warmed milk and ale, with nutmeg, sugar, ginger, and clove.
Spicy milk? ♥

Halloween (L.A.)
The sky on fire: a strange incense of burning brush, junegrass, tumbleweeds, chaparral, and wild sage.
This one seems cool and I like smoky, resiny scents in fall sometimes hence only a decant.

Pomagranate V
Pomegranate, carnation, amber, cardamom, neroli, vetiver, black pepper, and opium tar.

The Unsteady Governess
White tea and violet leaf.

I might end up wanting to order full bottles of these decants which is why I did this EARLY. LOL! A couple of others beckon as well but I'll see about these first.
hippie_chick: (BPAL)
BPAL Skeleton Librarian Plaque! A couple of days ago.

I have named him "Bartleby". Don't ask me why, it just popped in there... "Bartleby B. Bones". :p Anyway I need to get him hung, but just wanted to snap a pic so he's up against the mirror in my bathroom.

He's holding Creepy, and my October BPALs are in the slots: Bony Moon, October, Death of Autumn, three random Pumpkins, and Pumpkin Queen.

The bottles will rotate out. Gives me incentive to use the ones I don't wear that often more.

♥ ♥ !!
hippie_chick: (BPAL)
It's a great update at BPAL! YULE is here! Halloweenies are still up so if you are a BPAL freak like me, there's still time to grab you some of those.

But firstly, I had to order Pa-Pow.

Pa-Pow, Ted's best friend and companion for 17 years, passed away on September 1st, 2009. To celebrate her life and the joy she brought to all of us, we have created a scent evocative of bright days running through the grass and sun-warmed puppy fur dusted with California wildflowers. The proceeds from the sale of this scent will go to the Pasadena Humane Society so she can help care for the animals that were displaced and injured during this summer's Station Fires.

To find out more about the Pasadena Humane Society, please visit: http://www.pasadenahumane.org/.

Now on to the update.

Mostly for my own notation so I don't forget and keep things straight.

Ordered decants from two circles:

Here on LJ via [livejournal.com profile] edenssixthscent:

The First Soft Snow
Heavy drifts of snow blanketing winter's narcissus.

The Fruit of Paradise
The Fruit of Paradise, the Nectar of Death: bittersweet pomegranate, nurtured and cultivated in the hollow darkness of the Underworld. OMG POMEGRANATE!♥

From "The Miskatonic Valley Yuletide Faire:

Mother Shub's Pfancy Pfefferneusse
Sugar-sprinkled pepper nuts with a bit of cinnamon, a bit of clove, a little cardamom, and a hint of nutmeg. OMG sounds so yummy!

Mother Shub's Toothsome Banketstaaf
Tubular pastries oozing with spijs, glazed with apricot jam, and dotted with glace cherries. Mmmm.

And from the BPAL forum (user: binkin) I'm getting:

Hypothermia
Bone-chilling, heart-stopping cold. Brrrrrrrrrrr.

Now Winter Nights Enlarge
Shorten those tedious nights with a surge of body heat: vanilla-infused red musk, champaca, petitgrain, ylang ylang, patchouli, nutmeg, honey, galbanum, and traces of caramel.

Pink Snowballs
A lighthearted winter scent: chilly vanilla rose snowballs.

Season of Ghosts
A scent created to burn away sorrow: bergamot, frankincense, rose geranium, ginger, lemongrass, and blood orange.

Sleipnir
Yay Norse mythology! Odin's eight legged horse!
Confections spun of hazelnuts, honey, elderberries, and bilberries with a dusting of hay and a bit of carrot.

Sol Invictus
A radiant blend of solar oils: golden amber, saffron, heliotrope, hibiscus, citron, frangipani, frankincense, tangerine, mock orange, and orange blossom.

When The Winter Chrysanthemums Go (waitlisted)
A gentle flurry of snow dusting the season's last chrysanthemums, illuminated by pale rays of winter's amber-tinted sunlight.

YAY!

Once I get these I'll test and sniff and see what loves me enough to grab bottles of before they go bye-bye.
hippie_chick: (BPAL)
UPDATE time! I love looking through them! Lust, lust. *whimper*

(Visit BPAL) These are all under Limited Editions

Bony Moon
White sandalwood, dry cedar, and radiant, crisp lunar herbs.

Looks really nice actually. I am getting this one. The tee shirt is adorable.

And. Lupercalia time!

BOX! OF! CHOCOLATES!! OMG

Just all of it, please. The entire damn thing.

Novel Ideas For Secret Amusements!

A limited edition Salon series celebrating the joy, humor, playfulness, and thrill of sexual intercourse through scent interpretations of Edo era Japanese erotic art.

And yes, visit the link, check out the artwork that goes with these scents.

Lovers in a Rice Field
Plum blossom, vanilla sandalwood, nutmeg, and wild rice.

Giant Vulva
Skin musk, sugar cane, honey, beeswax, vanilla flower, and copal.

So great. I can just see this now. What are you wearing? Oh... Giant Vulva! It's just fantastic. The notes look excellent.

Lovers with Rutting Cats
Vanilla, red ginger, oakmoss, palm date, and oud.

Ode to Aphrodite!

Dia
White amber, coconut, white musk, oakmoss, and tobacco flower.

Khrysee
Vanilla amber and orange blossom.

Makhanitis
Black plum, burgundy wine, sandalwood, and champaca.

Haven't decided exactly except for Bony Moon what I'm ordering yet. Such a divine update. All of it. Gorgeous, and I need to keep track of funds. UGH. Decisions, decisions... I have to check out some decant circles I think.
hippie_chick: (Default)
Yes, there. I admit it. Those of you who follow my obsession with Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab will know this, and I am known to have a couple of commercial obsessions going on at the same time.

I was all about Issey Miake's Eau D'Issey for a stretch. Then I got into the wonderfulness that is Vera Wang's Princess. I alternate my favorite commercial obsession with my favorite BPAL day to day so it's not the same continuously.

Right now, it's all about Marc Jacobs Daisy.

The bottle looks way too cute sitting on my vanity. I like the scent, too. So fresh and bright. The notes: Strawberry, Violet Leaves, Ruby Red Grapefruit, Gardenia, Violet Petals, Jasmine Petals, Musk, Vanilla, White Woods. It's blended to perfection, honestly. Gardenia and jasmine scare me as they amp on me so much, but it does not here. They're subtle here, really, just a whiff. It's the violet here that takes center stage with everything else intermingling.

I'm past the age group target for this one at 43, but even my mom likes it and she's in her 60s. It's indeed very "young" at first but fades down into something lovely and more sophisticated, at least on me. I've read reviews where people were *meh...* about the drydown, saying it lost its first applied bubbly allure. I like the drydown on me actually, but that's me. LOL!

Anyway there you have it, my latest commercial scent obsession. That's sure to change when this bottle is gone and my nose leads me to something else...
hippie_chick: (BPAL / Stardust)
Looking at the Yule update @ BPAL and trying to make my decisions... Ah to just say to heck with it send me everything! LOL!

So far these look good:

Butter Rum Cookie
A boozy addition to the devil's bake sale! Rum-soaked butter cookies, crusted with sugar, soaked in almond and garnished with orange rind. The foodie in me is going YES, PLEASE!

Frau Holle
Snow-covered pines, witches herbs, bestial musk, flax, and ethereal flowers that represent both birth and death. This sounds great!

Gelt
Amber and chocolate! Read reviews on the forum and it looks like it's my kind of chocolate!

Nuclear Winter
Annihilation. The ice, desolation and barrenness of nuclear devastation shot through by a beam of radioactive mints. It's back! I loved this. Just the kind of mint I like.

The Wind In The Willows scents!

I have to get this one. I just have to.

Piper At The Gates of Dawn
Sublime peace, ecstatic joy, and thunderstruck awe: terebinth pine, patchouli, brown musk, linden blossom, honey, mallow, blood orange, heliotrope, and golden amber.

Badger
Warm earth, deep-reaching roots, dark myrrh, galangal, and Atlas cedar.

Toad
Dapper cologne, scorched waistcoat, a bit of pipe tobacco, and motor oil. Makes me smile.

Other notes:

Jacob's Ladder is back, but I have enough of that left over I think. It's a fantastic amber concoction.

Lick It Like You Mean It ... the current update of Lick It. I would try an imp, but I'll be going for Nuclear Winter again, since it's back and I prefer a crisp, cold mint rather than a sugary candy cane type. I do still have some Lick It Again here too... hmmm.....

The lovely Snow White is back. Might get an imp to see what she's like this go 'round.

Sugar Cookie is also back, but I am leaning more toward the Butter Rum Cookie this time. An imp of Sugar Cookie. Maybe.

Decisions decisions...

Got back from collecting the mail a little bit ago. BPAL has landed! Yesterday I received my room spray of "Gooey Pillowcase" from the Trading Post. I sprayed some today and it's delicious. You would have thought I had some wonderful home made maple candy cooking up in here!

And today, my Halloweenie Haul! Just in time to enjoy from here through to THE night! Whew!

First of all, so many lovely frimps!

51 (hadn't sniffed this one yet, was happy to get it...this is incredible and so intricate on!)
Dian's Bud (another I hadn't sniffed yet, it's gorgeous, love the apple and galangal in here)
Somnus (always a nice bed time scent, love this one)
Eternal
Othello
Severin
Caliban
Inferno (YUMMY on me!)
Love Me
Peitho
Goblin (love it, very cool on!)
Dragon's Blood
Nylarathotep
Uruk
Hairy Toad Lily
Rosalind
Wolf's Heart
Dracul! My lovely Dracul! I have nursed this old-ish bottle long enough, must order another ASAP

So generous, and appreciated!

Now on to the meat of it all... my order. First impressions from just sniffing from the bottles:

John Barleycorn
Beery and grainy for sure. There are sheaves of wheat pictured on the bottle after all. It definitely smells like something I'd have fun wearing to the microbrewery or to an Octoberfest.

To Autumn
I knew this would be lovely just from the description. There is a fall cornucopia of fruits and nuts pictured on the bottle. Sniffing from the bottle it's apples and nutmeat. Sweet but not overly so. I think this will be nice to wear from here through Thanksgiving. I hope it likes me when I wear it.

Ichabod Crane
I had to get this one! :) I smell peppery wool in the bottle! It's like Ichabod's coat would smell if you had your nose up to its collar.

The Witching Time Of The Night
The kind of floral I like not overly cloying, just right. It's like a cool midnight walk in a garden with the moon shining down on you. I'm anxious to actually put this one on, to see what happens on my skin.

Then we have the pumpkin patch! The bottles are adorable as usual! Straight sniff from the bottles, not worn yet:

I:
Coconut with a kick and pumpkin straight off in the bottle.

II:
S&M pumpkin! LOL! Leathery and musky in the bottle. Naughty and sexy!

III:
I love this one in the bottle! Citrusy pumpkin. I smell that grapefruit!

IV:
Yep, there's that cherry tobacco! Then I sniff again, and I get the honey. Looking forward to trying this one on and seeing what happens. So far it makes me think of a bunch of my "comfort" scents all in one bottle.

V:
Fruity pumpkin. I definitely get strawberry in there. The jasmine worries me as I amp it up so, and I'm not a fan of rose scents, but we'll see when this one goes on what happens.

Bonus imp:
Needle In A Haystack
A wheaty one to go with John Barleycorn, though this isn't a beery wheat, more like a wheatfield in the sun. And the pumpkin is there, drifting in and out... not strongly, but just enough. There's the faintest little ting of something metallic! THE NEEDLE! LOL! I love this. I have this one on now, actually and it's lovely lovely, lovely.

ETA:
Just went to the forum this second. I was able to log on! YAY! I haven't posted in an age but wanted to read what everyone had to say about the seasonal LEs and be able to comment where I'm moved to. :)
hippie_chick: (BPAL)
Just placed an order @ BPAL for some of the Halloweenie goodness. Hadn't had a chance (or the money till now) to really look at it and enjoy all the descriptions and make my choices. Plus I haven't ordered anything in awhile so I felt it okay to splurge a bit this time. My haul:

John Barleycorn
Barley, beer, blood, and whiskey.

To Autumn
Mist and mellow fruitfulness: mist-swirled, moss-covered bark and dry red leaves, apple pulp and knotty galangal, with poppy juice and nutmeat.

Pumpkin Plunder
Freakin' had to just get the whole patch, looks yummy as usual! I usually only get imps of everything but this time... bottles baby. BOTTLES.

And the bonus imp of "Needle in a Haystack"
Hay absolute, sun-baked pumpkin rind, twisting vines, and the tiniest sparkle of gleaming metal.

And oh holy crap... SLEEPY HOLLOW SCENTS!!! Guh.

Ichabod Crane
Dusty black wool, tea with cream, black pepper, muguet, and beeswax candle drippings.

The Witching Time of the Night
Moonflower, night-blooming cereus, white hellebore, English ivy, monkshood, angel's trumpet, oleander, and eastern hemlock.

Also ordered the "Gooey Pillowcase" room and linen spray. The foodie in me is rejoicing.
Lumps of pumpkin fudge, marshmallow glop, cookie crumbs, caramel smears, and bits of sticky fuzz.

It was so hard. SO hard not to buy so much more. I love you [livejournal.com profile] kebechet and I love your Halloweenie scents. Have to pace myself though, for Chrismas / Yuletide scents will be upon us before too long!

How extremely cool is the Dia de los Muertos tee? OMG!!!! Next week I just might have to order one.
Eagerly awaiting to getting my hands on these!! Yay!!

I can't log on to the BPAL forum! I requested from the lost password page, even though I used the one I always did to see if that would work. I keep getting locked out even if I use correct usernames and passwords. ARGH!

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab

Okay there has been more activity at Carnivale Diabolique. The fourth act is live!! A few things in the Steamworks, and Dyan Moon. More elsewhere as well. Big update!

All of it, dammit! I want all of it!!

*weeps*
hippie_chick: (Default)
My Trading Post order got here. The Steamworks tshirt is beautiful. And I love the oil that comes with it. Mmmmm...
hippie_chick: (BPAL)
Update at the Lab! :)

BPAL

Many Tiki/Polynesian Pop themed scents, of them these are the ones I think look most enticing:

Blue Fire
Papaya, blueberry, lemongrass, and gin.
Mmmmmm.

Opuhi
Ginger blossom and vanilla orchid.
Vanilla!! Ginger!! Yes.

Also, must get Hexennacht 2008!

This perfume is the scent of the witches' revel: German fir and forest herbs, incense and bonfire smoke, infernal flora, glowing amber, and the wet, glimmering scent of skin warmed by dance.

This one looks mighty interesting:

Worm Moon
Since April is Black Phoenix's Month of Absurdity, we present a melding of Victorian Grotesquery and springtime fecundity: mold-crusted dirt, decomposing organic matter, coffin wood, drooping funeral flowers, congealed blood, gloomy lunar oils, cuckoo flower, and a gruesome burst of overripe red fruits.

Off to decide on another order.
