BPAL Yule Chatter.

BPAL (http://www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com) is looking wonderful this Yuletide! The Nutcracker and A Christmas Carol blends are all looking quite good. And some favorites have been resurrected, other new blends added. I wish I could just yoink one of everything but alas I am forced to pick and choose. For right now I've just placed an order of four bottles with the Lab.
Posting mostly for my own benefit, to keep track.
Gingerbread Poppet 2010
Warm, cozy gingerbread spiced with nutmeg, clove and cinnamon.
Oh how I love this! I'm such a gourmand scent lover. Haha!
Christmas Carol: The First of the Three Spirits
Shimmering white amber, voluminous vanilla, white musk, zdravetz, and summer flowers.
The Ghost Of Christmas Past has three of my favorite notes. Am looking forward to this one.
Christmas Carol: The Second of the Three Spirits
Pine boughs, plum pudding, spiced pears, sugared chestnuts, punch floated with oranges, boughs of holly, and myrica berries.
The Ghost of Christmas Present hits all the right festive notes! I hope he's good on me. Ordering Spirit #1 made me think well okay, I'll go for all three! It's Christmas after all.
Christmas Carol: The Last of the Spirits
Blackcurrant, myrrh, and vetiver. This Spirit used to give me chills and scare me as a kid when my mom would read the story to me. The Ghost of Christmas Past's scent looks just as dark as he is.
I was thinking about getting Ebenezer but am hung up on the notes in him, A dry, dusty, soulless scent, flinty with greed, sour with ill-temper: neglected leather, oakmoss, tonka bean, black pepper, cumin, and vetiver. While it certainly looks interesting, I might wait for reviews on him to start coming in. I didn't order him in the decant circle I am in, but should I like the decants enough to buy any of them as a full bottle from the Lab, I'll check on the reviews of Mr. Scrooge here and see what people think of him.
And in
ralenth's circle I've ordered decants of
Harlequin & Columbine
French vanilla, red currant, sage, balsam, rosewood, mandarin, lemon peel, pomegranate, and cedar.
The notes just look perfectly lovely and I've never had a problem with any of them. I'll bet I like this but I want to try it first.
The Nutcracker
Frankincense, black mission fig, and galbanum. I'm not familiar with galbanum, but looking it up I see it's an intensely green, musky type of scent. I'm erring on the side of caution and getting just a decant for right now, see what it does on me.
Incessant Torture of Remorse
Opopponax, lavender, blackberry, patchouli, olive leaf, myrtle, and white cognac. Looks very balsam like, but with the fruity touch of the blackberry and the kick of the cognac. Looked interesting so I went for a decant.
Ignorance and Want
Bog myrtle, wormwood accord, carrot seed, lovage, Roman chamomile, orris root, myrrh, and patchouli. I'm intrigued by the blend of notes here.
Gingerbread Poppet because I want to include the decant in a Secret Santa gift I'm putting together for someone who loves this type of scent as much as I do.
Winter Time
Sweet, soft snow. Seeing if this is like any of the other snowy scents Beth has done.
I need to go now and check on any reviews if they've come in.
I just realized I haven't posted a review or reviews in awhile. I should. Maybe I'll do one today, just need to decide what scent I want to review first.
