I love the cards that come with the orders. My first Lab order came with one advertising Carnaval Noir, and this time It was part of the right panel (in Hell) of the famous Hieronymus Bosch triptych "Garden Of Earthly Delights". Awesome.

BPAL review #10: Dracul

Only because I'm wearing this right now, thought I'd throw this review up here.

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab

Named in honor of Vlad III, Tepes, of the Order of the Dragon. Black musk, tobacco, fir, balsam of peru, cumin, bitter clove, crushed mint, and orange blossom.

In The Vial: Ah! Quite interesting! I do smell the mint, fir and balsam, and a hint of the orange blossom. Mmmmm. Sharp. Manly. But not so masculine I wouldn't wear it myself.

On Wet: I still smell the mint, but it's soft and mellow not biting. The orange blossom is coming up in the mix a tiny bit more too but not in your face or anything. Just sweetens up the woodsy-ness of the mix enough.

On Drydown: There's the clove and cumin! Though subtle, and just perfect. Everything has blended into one dark yet warm scent. And hooray! Actually musk in a blend that doesn't jump right out on my skin and overpower everything! It's behaving and quite nicely.

Overall: This blend is wonderfully complex. Sexy. Damn. I wish I weren't single at the moment! Put this on a hot looking guy? Oh yeah, baby. And this one has a bit of staying power. Didn't fade nearly as fast as say Absinthe or The Dormouse did on me.
