Monday Music Mambo @ Blogdrive Insanity

"Hey, all you cool mamboing cats and mamas out there in blogland! I got a swingin' new mambo for you to groove on today. See, today's Jazz Day, so let's strike up the band and play."

1. Who are some of your favorite jazz musicians?

Miles Davis
John Coltrane
Ramsey Lewis
Chick Corea
Thelonious Monk

2. Do you own any jazz albums? Any kind of jazz will do, even swing.

Yes I do. I'll name something I own from each of the above listed artists:

Bitches Brew - Miles Davis
The Very Best of John Coltrane - John Coltrane
Sun Goddess - Ramsey Lewis
The Leprechaun - Chick Corea (I've had this since forever, on vinyl... always loved it even though there are better)
Himself - Thelonious Monk

3. Sax, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass, guitar, drums - what's your favorite jazz instrument?

Oh I'm a sucker for GOOD sax playing and piano.

4. If you had a jazz band of your own, what would you call it?

I'm not that clever to come up with something cool, I'd have to get the band together and have some ideas thrown out there. *wink*.

4. Margaritaville - Jimmy Buffett.
5. In Bloom - Nirvana.
6. Cornflake Girl - Tori Amos.
7. Black Dog (Live, iTunes)- Robert Plant.
8. Biggest Part Of Me - Ambrosia. NOT Chicago like so many people think!
9. Tempted - Squeeze.
10. Maybe I'm Amazed - Paul McCartney.

Sorry, no random piccie this week.

Okay, you have to see this if you haven't. I laughed my arse off! Steve Carell is brilliant. You'll hear a lot more from him, trust me. Plot: Well, it's simple, really. Nice but virginal 40 year old guy Andy Sizter (Carell) finds "the one", and finally gets... well... laid. There is much hilarity as his friends advise him, and help him along his path to "losing it". The extras are just as entertaining and hilarious as the film. Go. Rent this now for some off kilter, off color fun!

I normally adore John Cusack. Have since he was Lloyd Dobler. Yeah, Say Anything.... But [livejournal.com profile] prettyh, you are quite right, he's essentially stuck in Lloyd mode here and it really doesn't work now that hes a 40 something year old. And I love Diane Lane, and the two of them together are primarily the reason I went for this movie in the first place. I did enjoy it, for something sweet and fluffy, it's good.
Plot: Sarah (Lane), is a divorced school teacher who's profile ends up on perfectmatch.com thanks to her sister. Several outlandish dates later, she comes across boat builder Jake (Cusack). But things get a little complicated.

As I said, not OMG GREAT!!! but for something sweet and fluffy, this will do fine.

Ordered Hideous Throng Ensemble on January 9.
CnS: January 26
Arrived: January 29

VERY fast this time! The lab has been doing awesome with turnout!

Annabel Lee: I've already reviewed this one and love it. This is my second bottle of it. SO gorgeous on me!
Spirits of the Dead: GORGEOUS tea notes!!
Dreamland: Big on white florals. Pretty in the bottle. We'll see what it does on me.
Lenore: Vetivert. Much vetivert. And smoke. I'm actually really liking this in the bottle and hope it wears well on me.
The Sleeper: I smell the jasmine right off. Hopefully once on, the other notes even out the jasmine on me.
The Haunted Palace: Citrusy floral. Interesting and nice in the bottle.
Alone: Oooo... a beautiful patchouli scent!!!! I love Beth's patchoulis.
Al-Araaf: A gorgeously delicate honeyed floral. Quite lovely.
The Evening Star: A whiff of pale flowers on a night breeze.
The City In The Sea: Nice ozone-y aquatic.

Well done, Beth! These definitely invoke the works that inspired them.

Frimps galore.

Elegba, Kali, Pride, Whip, Rage, Lolita (lemon drops to my nose!), Niflheim, Katharina, Umbra, O, Twilight, Queen of Sheba, Titus Andronicus, Kumiho, Phantom (x2), Eris, Ophelia and Nero.

Oh. Just got the mail for today, and yep, there's my lone bottle of 13 (OMG ♥ chocolate cake!) and frimps of Magdalene and Medea (duplicates). I didn't even get a CnS for this order so... WOW! LOL!! Surely Budding Moon is right behind since I ordered that the day it went live. I'm going to have to get all the dup. imps together and start swapping / selling. I have at least a couple now I can do that with. We'll see. I have to get organized. Ack! Haha!
