Monday Music Mambo @ Blogdrive Insanity

So sayeth our meme meister: "Hello mamboers! Spring is finally here, but it doesn't really feel like it yet. I'll make this week's mambo fairly simple. All you have to do is give me some songs, artists, or albums that remind you of or use the following words:"

Birds

Songs: Free As A Bird - The Beatles, Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynard, Songbird - Oasis, Surfin' Bird - The Ramones (cover version), Bird Dog - The Everly Brothers, Three Little Birds - Bob Marley, I'm Like A Bird - Nelly Furtado, Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)- The Beatles, And Your Bird Can Sing - The Beatles.

Albums: Fly - The Dixie Chicks, And a few songstresses named their albums "Songbird".

Artists: The Byrds, Bird York, A Flock of Seagulls, Charlie "Bird" Parker.

Flowers

Songs: Where Have All The Flowers Gone - Pete Seeger, You Don't Bring Me Flowers - Neil Diamond & Barbra Streisand, Flowers on the Wall - The Statler Brothers, The Rose - Bette Midler, In Bloom - Nirvana, Glass Onion - The Beatles (singing "looking through the bent back tulips").

Albums: Flowers - The Rolling Stones, Flowers In The Dirt - Paul McCartney.

Artists: I can't think of anything in this category. Maybe Devo... you know they wore those flower pot things on their heads. Haha! Or Brandon Flowers, leader of The Killers?

Sun

Songs: Here Comes The Sun - The Beatles, Steal My Sunshine - Len, Walking On The Sun - Smashmouth, Soak Up The Sun - Sheryl Crow, Sun King - The Beatles ("Quando para mucho mi amore de felice corazon"), Sun Goddess - Ramsey Lewis, Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me - Elton John, House Of The Rising Sun - The Animals, Good Day Sunshine - The Beatles.

Albums: Waiting For The Sun - The Doors, Into The Sun - Sean Lennon... and I'm drawing a blank at more.

Artists: The Jazz artist Sun Ra is all I can think of here.

Rain

Songs: I'm Only Happy When It Rains - Garbage, Rain - The Beatles, The Rain Song - Led Zeppelin, Come Rain or Come Shine - Standard sung by a few, Riders on the Storm - The Doors, Stormy Weather - Standard sung by a few, The Rain The Park and Other Things - The Cowsills, A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall - Bob Dylan, I Wish It Would Rain - The Temptations, Rain Fall Down - The Rolling Stones, Rain - Madonna. Okay I'll stop now. LOL!

Albums: A Day Without Rain - Enya, Purple Rain - Prince (could work as song title too), Driving Rain - Paul McCartney, After The Rain - Nelson (I used to play this one obsessively when I worked at the record store after it came out), Hatful of Rain The Best of Del Amitri - Del Amitri (Tell Her This is such a great song).

Artists: I really can't think of any here!

Party (in honor of spring break)

Songs: All Tomorrow's Parties - Velvet Underground & Nico, Get The Party Started - P!nk, Where's The Party - Madonna, Whats The New Mary Jane - The Beatles ("what a shame Mary Jane had a pain at the party"), (You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party) - The Beastie Boys. And just a couple shake yo thang and par-tay songs: Tubthumping - Chumbawamba, Bust A Move - Young M.C., Rhythm Is A Dancer - Snap, Another Night - Real McCoy, What Is Love - Haddaway (okay, yeah, work that Butabi Brothers headbang), Brick House - The Commodores, Music - Madonna, Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) - C+C Music Factory. Okay I'll stop. I should put together my own ultimate Party Mix actually. Hmmm....

Albums: A Night At The Roxbury (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), and anything by Daft Punk or Chemical Brothers will get that party started, too. And like I said... put together your own mix, be your own DJ that's what a party is all about!

Artists: Just a couple good club / dance / party artists to look for when you plan that next shindig... Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers, Madonna, Aphex Twin, Massive Attack, Missy Elliott.

Change

Songs: Changes - David Bowie, Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You - Glenn Medieros, Change The World - Eric Clapton, We Never Change - Coldplay, Changes - Ozzy Osbourne, A Change Is Gonna Come - Bob Dylan, Just The Way You Are - Billy Joel ("don't go changin' to try and please me..."), If I Thought You'd Ever Change Your Mind - Agnetha Faltskog (such a good voice!), Taxman - The Beatles ("and my advice for those who die; declare the pennies on your eyes...").

Albums: Sea Change - Beck, Change of Season - Hall and Oates (the acoustic version of So Close is awesome, really), annnnnd.... I can't think of another.

Artists: Drawing a complete blank. Completely. LOL!

And by the way I adore how the Fabs could be used in every category .

On to the Weekend Musical Recap )
hippie_chick: (Tom Cruise says you're glib!)
As seen on PINK is the new BLOG...

That this sign has now been posted outside Cruise-azy Central, aka the Tom Cruise / Katie Holmes manse, can only mean the birth of the TomKitten is imminent.

...but be silent and make all physical movements slow and understandable...

OMG like the signs they'd post at the zoo during feeding time, no?

God help us all. RUN, Katie!

Ooops... *whispers*

Run.
