I'm sorry Music Memoirs participants!! I completely flaked and didn't post my answers to Friday's *or* yesterday's memes. Soooo.... better late than never, right? Here they are:
Top Five On Friday @ The Music Memoirs
Top 5 long songs (songs over 5 minutes):
1. Light My Fire - The Doors (7:08)
Just the finest piece of jazz-rock. Ever. ♥
2. Riders On The Storm - The Doors (7:10)
Yes, another Doors song. But you can't deny this one. It's my favorite.
3. Stairway To Heaven - Led Zeppelin (8:02)
Okay so many whine about how over rated this is, it's not even their best, blah blah blah. But such a special place I hold in my heart for this one. I don't care. It will never grow old as far as I'm concerned.
4. You Can't Always Get What You Want - The Rolling Stones (7:32)
"But if you try sometimes you just might find you get what you need." One of my toppermost of the poppermost favorite Stones tracks.
5. Kashmir - Led Zeppelin (8:32)
Aside from "Stairway" one of my toppermost of the poppermost favorite Zeppelin tracks. And there are a few. This one is wonderful though.
Honorable mentions:
November Rain - Guns 'N Roses (8:55)
One - Metallica (7:24)
The Night: Nights In White Satin - The Moody Blues (7:38) I know,
elfslut ... you hate this one. LOL!! But not me. It's gorgeous!! And it *must* include "Late Lament"!!
Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd (6:24)
Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands - Bob Dylan (11:19)
Hey Jude - The Beatles (7:11) Naaaaa, na na na na na naaaaaa..... na na na naaaaaa hey Jude....
Take Me Back Tuesday @ The Music Memoirs
This week it's all about winter. Snow, cold, seasonal holidays...
Three songs.
1. Hazy Shade of Winter - Simon and Garfunkel (covered by The Bangles)
2. Winter - Tori Amos
3. Night, Pt. 1 (Snow) - George Winston (his CD "December" is gorgeous!!)
Three artists who warm you up when it's cold out.
1. The Beatles
2. The Doors
3. Led Zeppelin
Yep, my classic rock Gods. :)
Three albums.
1. December - George Winston
2. Christmas Eve and Other Stories - Trans-Siberian Orchestra
3. And I'll lump in here at third place any of the various and sundry "Winter Solstice" type CDs you can find on Amazon easily enough. Assorted Windham Hill artists, all are very nice wintry mood music.
