Top 5 "Goodbye" songs
I had to think because it matters who you're saying goodbye to. A good friend, a lover? The world? So here are a couple for lovers/friends I suppose.
1. Hello, Goodbye - The Beatles
Because well yes they end up on every list I make, right? *wink*
You say yes, I say no
You say stop, I say go, go, go
Oh, no...
You say goodbye and I say hello
Hello hello
Don't know why you say goodbye
I say hello
2. Closing Time - Semisonic
So gather up your jackets, move it to the exits
I hope you have found a friend
(Closing time)
Every new beginning comes from
some other beginning's end
3. Don't You (Forget About Me) - Simple Minds
Who can forget this iconic song from The Breakfast Club?
Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby
Don't you forget about me
Don't Don't Don't Don't
Don't you forget about me
4. The Last Goodbye - Jeff Buckley
Kiss me, please kiss me,
But kiss me out of desire, babe, and not consolation.
Oh, you know it makes me so angry 'cause I know that in time
I'll only make you cry, this is our last goodbye.
5. Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) - Green Day
Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.
When I think of saying goodbye permanently, I mean like offing yourself, (ew that's morbid but how do you put it, right?)a couple songs come to mind.
Gloomy Sunday - covered by everyone from Billie Holiday to Bjork
Richard Corey - Simon and Garfunkel
Joining You - Alanis Morrisette
And I'm sure there are more. But I didn't want to take the gloomy route with the meme. LOL!
