Top 5 TV Theme Songs
These are songs that I still hear and instantaneously know them. It's like they're part of me. And that? That is what makes a GREAT theme song. Click on the links to see video!
1. All In The Family ("Those Were The Days")
Who can forget Edith and Archie Bunker sitting at the piano and singing "Those Were The Days" at the beginning of each show. "And you knew where you weeeerrre theeeeeen..."
2. The Brady Bunch
Each week, the theme song would tell us the story of a lovely lady meeting a man named Brady and blended families were never so much fun! The Bradys were able to solve any crisis that came up in a mere half hour! Cindy loses her doll? No problem! Marcia gets braces? Whoopee. And the kids never minded that there wasn't a toilet in their bathroom! Good old Alice was also on hand to oversee things.
3. The Monkees
Here they coooome.... What was more fun than a Monkees episode? You hear the familiar sound of the theme song and don't want to leave the television until the last laugh has been had and the last song has been sung. What was the end theme? Remember that too? It was called "For Pete's Sake".
4. Gilligan's Island
Sit right back and you'll hear the tale, the tale of a fateful trip, it started from this tropic port aboard this tiny ship... Every week we tuned in to see what Gilligan, The Skipper and the rest of the castaways would be up to. One of those television themes that you hear and instantly know it.
5. Green Acres
Lisa (Ava Gabor) , socialite, marries Oliver Douglas (Eddie Albert) and moves from penthouse living in NYC to living down on the farm. Instantly memorable theme song. "Green Acres is the place to be, farm livin' is the life for me! Land stretchin' out so far and wide, keep Manhattan just give me that countryside!" The show was a spin off of "Petticoat Junction", which had a great theme song too by the way!
Runners up:
The Partridge Family
Linked is the original theme, "...when we're singin'..." because it's all that was on You Tube without it being a fan vid or slide show. I wanted an actual opening sequence darn it! LOL!
Cheers
Because sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came.
The Addams Family
They're creepy and they're kooky, mysterious and spooky, they're all together ooky!
The Andy Griffith Show
I know you whistle along, admit it!
Welcome Back, Kotter
New Jersey boy strikes out into the world, only to end up back where he started, teaching a class that call themselves the Sweat Hogs! John Sebastian's theme was so good, so solid, that the title of the show was changed from just "Kotter" to "Welcome Back, Kotter"! Even enjoyed a bit of radio play, this one!
The Courtship of Eddie's Father
Harry Nilsson's theme song was just a sweet little confection, and the perfect lead in to a show about a single dad trying his best to raise his son through whatever ups and downs each episode might bring. "People let me tell you 'bout my best friend, he's a one boy cuddly toy, my up, my down, my pride and joy."
That was a fun one! Brought back many memories, as I sat there surfing YouTube to find you these links and stumbled across other wonderful theme songs that I remembered well.
