I love October. And the 10th month of the year brings the traditional "Halloween Month Movie A Night". For the month of October I watch one horror/suspense movie each night. I have chosen tonight's movie.

The Blair Witch Project (1999)

Now, I know there are haters out there. But you know what? You have to give this film props for being a little indie horror flick that created so much word of mouth and buzz, via clever internet marketing that it's become firmly entrenched in the horror lexicon. With our THX quality surround and big flat screen, this should be as close as I can get to when I saw it at the theater.

The first time I saw this it just freaked me out and chilled me to the bone. Thought it would be a good one to kick off the season with.

Along these lines, I have to mention that there's a new "buzz" film out there trying to market itself via word of mouth. Called Paranormal Activity. I really want to see it.

Right now it's in very limited release. Have any of you seen it yet? You can visit the website and "Demand" it be shown in your city. Miami is the closest listed for me, an hour and a half drive. If I can find someone to go with, yes, I'm a wuss and won't do it alone, I'll make this. Ha! Hopefully though it does well enough to see a wider release.

I don't know how I feel about that audience reaction, they seem like a "set up", really, but the film looks intriguing and this kind of thing is right up my alley.
