Friday the 13th!
Jun. 13th, 2014 08:44 am
It’s been rainy here the past couple of nights so I hope I can see that full moon tonight. Here are some more facts about Friday the 13th:
* One / DONE. This year, we only get one Friday the 13th, and that’s today! Next year, though, we have three.
*You’ll know that a particular month will have a Friday the 13th in it because it starts on a Sunday.
* Make sure you don’t look out at that full moon tonight through a pane of glass. Stick your head outside or go outside. Looking at it through the glass is said to be unlucky.
* Do you have a genuine fear of Friday the 13th? You share that with 21 million other Americans, and it’s got a name: friggatriskaidekaphobia.
*Do you have a genuine fear of the number 13? It also has a name: triskaidekaphobia. Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Henry Ford were among two prominent Americans who also had a fear of the number 13.
* That fear of the number 13 causes millions of dollars in absenteeism, cancelled plane and train travel and reduced commerce.
* I couldn’t do a Google search on Friday the 13th with out tons of results coming up for the movie. Friday the 13th grossed 40 million dollars at the box office during its initial run. Killer.
* Not everyone looks upon the number 13 as unlucky. The ancient Chinese and ancient Egyptians looked upon it as a lucky number. Singer / songwriter Taylor Swift finds 13 to be her lucky number, too, and paints it on her hand before each show.
