October's here !
Oct. 1st, 2003 01:48 pmHappy October! I love October... just wish it FELT more like October. It's so humid and hot here. UGH. Florida.
My mom and I do this every October... every night we watch one spooky or suspense movie. Last night, we started our Halloween month a night early with Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho .
I adore Anthony Perkins. What an amazing actor he was. Especially in this movie. My favorite scene I think is when he's at the swamp, sinking the car... just the expressions on his face. He doesn't say a word, but his face speaks volumes.
There are actually a few scenes like that in there. The other one that's really good is when Arbogast (Martin Balsam) is there interrogating him, he's eating the peanuts, and getting all nervous and trying to look nonchalant and calm but starts sputtering, and again... the facial expressions.
My fave Norman quote: "You know what I think? I think that we're all in our private traps, clamped in them, and none of us can ever get out. We scratch and we claw, but only at the air, only at each other, and for all of it, we never budge an inch."

And Hitchcock... of course his amazing direction doesn't hurt either. I love some of the camera angles and stuff he gets in there!
Tonight's choice is The Bad Seed . And... NO! Not that gods awful 1985 remake. The ORIGINAL. Yes, the acting was somewhat "stagy"... it was a play before it was a film, after all, but there *are* some great, classic lines and moments, and the cast is superb.
My favorite scene is between LeRoy and Rhoda in the arbor. Rhoda realizes that LeRoy may have the shoes she killed Claude Daigle with, and goes satanic. "Bring those shoes to me, LeRoy! bring them to meeee!!"... LeRoy is genuinely spooked then. Likewoah.

By the way, Patty McCormack (who played Rhoda), showed up on an episode of The Sopranos ! I don't really follow that series regularly, so I guess I missed it.
Anyroad... off I go. Got a few things to do around here. <3
Yes, I have on a cheesy but fun 70s internet radio station.
I switched over to S2 again 'cause I kinda dig that "Component" layout. So yeah. I will add the Halloween month movie-a-night to the free text to keep track of what we've watched.
