Sunday stuff...
Jan. 11th, 2004 07:04 amOkay? Now I'm completely paranoid.
A South Florida woman (right in Broward County) has contracted Mad Cow disease and is the only known person in the United States to have the human form of the disease. I am not aware of where she contracted it or anything. It's affecting her faculties and she can no longer walk or talk or care for herself. This was a young woman of promise. So sad. But I am seriously backing off beef for awhile, this is too close to home for comfort.
Not to mention... there may be (according to police) a serial killer loose right here in Boca Raton. He's already killed a young woman who was working as a nanny in a neighborhood not far from here. Police aren't saying much except that they believe she was targeted and watched by him for some time and that they found some "serious things" in the autopsy.
::shudder::
Well. Anyway. This is one reason I *like* living up here on the fourth floor in our apartment building. We feel a bit safer and we have good security here.
I'm off to work today because I need tomorrow off to go up to West Palm Beach and can't do one report that I usually do on Mondays unless I work today and get it done since I don't trust anyone to do it correctly. Nope. Not even management and they do too much running around answering calls and getting distracted to do it properly anyway. So yeah, I'll be home around 4:15-ish.

Date: 2004-01-11 09:34 am (UTC)I hear you about the mad cow disease. I cooked myself a hamburger the other day (steaks and roasts are safe, it is only hamburger and other ground up meats that aren't) and I really stared at it, debating if I should, before I ate it.
