Saw King Kong on Monday afternoon. Woohoo!

I will admit the first hour or so got a little tedious as things were being set up, but of course it's Peter Jackson, EPIC MAN! Once Kong made his appearance though, it was all slam bang the rest of the way! There were tender moments, scary moments, and it was just quite a fun ride. I was happy with the outcome. The man really does have an amazing technical eye.

Naomi Watts was wonderful. Adrien Brody was okay... a little nondescript IMO . Would have liked to have seen the relationship between Jack Driscoll and Ann Darrow more established but heck the first act was running long enough as it was. Jack Black did hold his own as Carl Denham I thought. But enough of that. It's all about... KONG!!! And the effects were astounding!

!!Skull Island!!

!!The natives!!

!!Brontosaurus stampede!!

!!Kong fighting off not one, not two but THREE dinosaurs at once!!

!!While swinging from vines doing it!!

!!BUGS!! !!ZOMG BUGS!! !!AND LEECHES!!

!!New York City and the whole thing there including climbing up to the very top of the Empire State Building!!

Loved the scene of Kong with Ann on the ice. That big lug made me tear up a couple of times! Seriously. First time ever that's happened. Not in the 1933 version or the 1980s remake with Jessica Lange did I even have that happen! Maybe because this Kong was done so well, so realistically, and his features were so amazing that it seemed alot more "real" to me.

I got vertigo a couple of times watching. Particularly the scenes at the top of the Empire State, made me a mite queasy. But it was all SO well done! I don't have too many carps or disappointments here. I indeed got my money's worth. Extravagant, well made, and great escapism. I recommend it.

And in honor of King Kong I'm using my Monkees icon. Monkees... Monkey... get it? Yeah. haHA! Okay.

I totally agree. It's an excellent movie. The scene on the ice was touching, as was the second sunset scene (which I won't describe because it's possibly a spoiler). Back in the depression era, being on top of the Empire State Building was, literally, being on top of the world.

And I loved how they opened the movie with that song... the prophetic line "...just like Humpty Dumpty I'm going to fall..." It was all just awesome.

I liked it, too.

I think it could've been a little shorter (didn't pass the ass test)...

...but it was very good and I cried at the end!
