Okay so should I? Upgrade to Windows Vista.

I might just want to wait until I get a completely new unit eventually, as it would most likely be prepackaged with it. Plus wouldn't I have trouble with some of my software on Vista since it's foundation is different from XP where XP's wasn't different from '98? I'm hearing of some problems running certain anti virus programs (Norton) under Vista. And Vista has it's own packaged right in but I don't know how good it is.

Thank you all for your great advice. I think it's pretty much across the board in favor of me waiting until I get a new PC. And so that is exactly what I'll do. :)

I think you're right. I am most likely going to be getting a new PC within the next year or two anyway and it would be preloaded I would think.

The more I read and look, I'd better wait anyway. This PC is like almost five years old, and I'd have to get new compatible software etc. I'd want more RAM and a larger hard drive and a faster processor too.

And? They look like they're totally trying to be Mac OSX by the pictures.

I little tip I learned when I bought a computer with the very first version of ME.

Wait til Vista's been out at least 6 months before upgrading or buying a new puter.

By then some of the bugs will be gone.

I agree with this. My dad waits about a year before upgrading so he doesn't have to deal with all the bugs of newness.

Dude, apparently the upgrade version is deleting programs that it doesn't like (ie. probably anything not Microsoft), so wait until you get the new unit. Apparently the full new version on new PCs doesn't do that.

I'd wait until either getting a new computer or for about a year otherwise. Microsoft always seems to have a nasty way of wanting consumers to pay a hefty price to do their beta testing for them. From what I've heard so fra, there is quite a lot of existing software that won't work with Vista ... yet.

wait to get a new unit. make sure you have a video card that can handle all the cool new visual effect thingies. i've been selling computers without vista for the past well.. since august and sinceoctoer they've come with a mail activated upgrade that you must install yourself. now they come with vista automatically. i'd say it'll be a lot easier for you to just wait to get a new system. i'd also wait a month or so because there are still a few things vista has trouble handling.

but thats just my two cents.
