I don't know what's better, extra cheese on the pizza I had for dinner, which was really, really good, or the extra cheese in the movie we were watching *during* dinner, which was really, really bad! Pre - Dynasty era Joan Collins in the 1977 movie "Empire of the Ants". What's scarier: oversized radioactive killer ants or a powder blue leisure suit and "disco hair"? I dunno.



One of Joan's classic lines: "I for one welcome our insect overlords."

And to think she studied at the Royal Academy of the Dramatic Arts for this.

Many laughs ensued.

OMG yes, I remember that one!! Haha!! I'm a sucker for a good old fashioned radioactive animal movie too! XD

LOL. I had no idea that line came from an old movie. I only know it from the Simpsons. There was an episode where Homer went into space, and he opens a bag of chips which start to float all over the cabin. While floating around eating the chips, he accidently breaks an ant farm they had for scientific study. Kent Brockman, the inept Springfield newscaster, gives the following "analysis" after seeing the ants on the news footage:

"Ladies and gentlemen, er, we've just lost the picture,but, uh, what we've seen speaks for itself. The Corvair spacecraft has been taken over -- "conquered", if you will -- by a master race of giant space ants. It's difficult to tell from this vantage point whether they will consume the captive earth men or merely enslave them. One thing is for certain, there is no stopping them; the ants will soon be here. And I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a trusted TV personality, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves."

Now I need to go buy this DVD..
