Monday Music Mambo @ Blogdrive Insanity

Our meme meister says: "Hi mamboers! I'm back with another Monday Music Mambo for your enjoyment.

I'm writing this on Sunday, and it's my birthday today! So I thought I'd make the Mambo birthday related today.

Your assignment is to:

Find a musician who was born on your birthday (or on the day before or after your birthday, if you don't like the people born on your day) and give me a list of three or four songs by that artist. You can do this for as many musicians as you want.

If you need help, go to Wikipedia and you should find some information there if you search for a date."

My birthday, July 6.

50 Cent (aka Curtis James Jackson III). Rap artist / MC / Member of G-Unit. Songs include "P.I.M.P" and "In Da Club".

Nanci Griffith. "Folkabilly" singer. Songs include "Well... Alright" and "Gulf Coast Highway". She also did a cover of the song "From A Distance".

Bill Haley. Rock and Roll pioneer. Songs include "Rock Around The Clock" and "Shake Rattle and Roll".

And really that's all I can think of and see of note as far as musical births on the same day.

The day before my birthday, July 5 includes:

Michael Monarch. Guitarist for Steppenwolf. Songs incude "Born To Be Wild", "Magic Carpet Ride" and "Snowblind Friend".

RZA (aka Robert Diggs). Rap artist / producer. Songs include "Glocko Pop" and "Black Widow".

Huey Lewis. Pop star / singer. Songs include "Hip To Be Square", "I Want A New Drug", "Stuck With You" and "If This Is It".

The day after my birthday, July 7 includes:

Ringo Starr (aka Richard Starkey) . Rock star and former Beatle, yo. Songs include "It Don't Come Easy", "Photograph" and "The No No Song".

Cree Summer. Singer / voice over actress. Songs include "Curious White Boy" and "Smooth My Heart". I think she's cool. :)

Annnnd really that's about it.

The Random 10 @ The Music Memoirs

Here's the weekend randomosity:

Pulled off Launch Cast since I gave that some love this weekend. Let's see what it threw at me shall we?

1. Cherish - Madonna. I love this one. So upbeat. Very reminiscent of that "girl group" sound.

2. Who's The Thief? - Donny Osmond. From the soundtrack to "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". Random Joseph yay!!

3. Linger - The Cranberries. Oooo... hadn't listened to this one in awhile. Love.

4. Sparkling Diamonds - Nicole Kidman. Diamonds are a girl's best friend, after all, yo. Yay for random Moulin Rouge! songs!

5. Mary - Sarah McLachlan. From "Fumbling Toward Ecstasy". I love this CD!! Good song.

6. Mary Jane's Last Dance - Tom Petty. Awwwww YES!! Love this song and the video kicks completely... yay for Kim Basinger as a cadaver!!! :) :)

7. Tiny Dancer - Elton John. *purrs and pets Launch* Good Launch. Yes.

8. Sleep To Dream - Fiona Apple. Always good when random Fiona comes up!

9. Love Is All Around - The Troggs. OOOOHHHHH yes!!! Love is all around me and so the feeling grows...

10. Simply Irresistable - Robert Palmer. Dance you know you wanna.

Random picture:

The fountain at Mizner Park. We went there yesterday for a couple hours. I love it! Yes, this is where Ringo will be on July 8... at the amphitheater there. :)

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab

Recieved as frimp (free imp / sample) from the Lab.

From Excolo.

Centzon Totochtin: The Four Hundred divine rabbits of the Aztec pantheon that preside over parties and drunkenness. Bittersweet Mexican cocoa with rum, red wine, and a scent redolent of sacrificial blood.

In the vial: Boozy and yes, a whiff of chocolate. Not sweet milky chocolate but dark, bitter chocolate. Mmm... this might be good.

On wet: Boozy chocolate, but there's something unpleasant that happens when it hits my skin and starts to dry down...

On drydown: Why oh why am I getting .... bug spray (!!) out of this?? The forum reviews all say wine, rum, bitter chocolate and even coffee... me? Getting none of that. It smells like OFF! mosquito repellent on me. *weeps*

Overall: I had such high hopes for this one too... it just sounded too cool. Hoping it's just wonky chemistry (I'm PMSing at the mo'... yeah.) and it will be better next time. I'll hang on to this and try again.

Now to wash this off and maybe put on some Dorian. Mmmmm. Doooorian. ♥

ETA
Just won Red Lantern off eBay. Only $9! But with her $9.50 shipping (from Australia) made it about the cost of a bottle of it from the Lab itself anyway so meh. Yay! I totally had to skip the Lupercalia scents and was really drooling after Red Lantern of all of them!!
