Mar. 27th, 2007 10:43 amI wasn't on the computer much yesterday, so I'm posting Monday's Mambo now, along with the Music Memoirs Tuesday meme.

1. Name some of your favorite drummers. Or name A drummer if you don't have any favorites.

Keith Moon
Ringo Starr
John Bonham
Ginger Baker
Charlie Watts
Mitch Mitchell
2. What song contains your favorite drum performance?
My fave from each one on the list above:
"A Quick One While He's Away" - Keith Moon. The performance on "Rock and Roll Circus". Too great. ♥ Keith.
"The End" - Ringo Starr. Also listen to "Rain", which is equally good and his personal favorite of his playing. A little picture tribute to the Beatles on You Tube featuring "The End" so you can hear it. And here's Rain.
"Moby Dick" - John Bonham. Here's a live performance. Bonham ruled. Seriously.
"Toad" - Ginger Baker. Royal Albert Hall performance from 2005
"Paint It Black" - Charlie Watts. Live performance. Awesome.
"Voodoo Child" - Mitch Mitchell. Live performance right here.
3. Do you prefer the drummer to simply keep a beat, or do you like him or her to show off a bit?
I don't like a robotic drummer. It's important for them to keep time, but I expect a little personality, a little personal style brought to the table. That's why I love Keith, Charlie, Ringo, et al listed above. They each have such a distinct way of playing, a distinct style there is no mistaking them when you hear them. And a good drum solo? Yeah, man! Show off a tiny bit, why not?
4. If you were a drummer, how would you personalize your drum kit?
I'm definitely not well versed. LOL! I wouldn't even know. Probably a very basic kit really. But I'd make it effective.

Take Me Back Tuesday @ The Music Memoirs
Pick a specific time in your life that you found enjoyable...tell us about it.
I had a happy, fun childhood. I think that was the best time, carefree, loved, surrounded by great music and people.
What music do you remember from that time?
I had cool "hippie" parents. There were always musician / bohemian / poet types crashing at the house, friends of my mom and dad. The music I will always associate with that period, and always hold dear is that of bands like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and The Who. Nurtured my love of classic rock and roll. I'd also on the other side of the coin hear much good jazz (my mom loved it) and R&B (my dad) so a mixture of great stuff always.
Why was that music important to you then?
I can't say, really. I guess it just comforted me. It was familiar.
Did the music help make that time enjoyable?
Oh definitely. That's why I still listen to it, it still makes me happy. :)
