I kind of surprised to see All Along the Watchtower so low on the list. I think that's one of the best cover versions of all time. Well, pretty much any song Hendrix covered. He took them and made them his own.

They also forgot Black Magic Woman. Santana took that song and made it his own, like Hendrix did.

I don't think this list is ranked though, just a conglomerate of covers. A lot of it I'll say looks like they just put down any cover of a song that came to mind. There are some I wonder why they're even on a top 100 list.

Jonathan Coulton's "Baby Got Back" is amazing in its simplicity. Paul Anka also did a cover of "Wonderwall", which is on the same album as the "Teen Spirit" cover ("Rock Swings", the album is called). And Ahmed and Dweezil Zappa have an awesome cover of "...Baby One More Time". And while Johnny Cash's "Personal Jesus" is great, his cover of Trent Reznor's "Hurt" is nothing less than profound.

On the other hand, I think Whitney Houston murdered, massacred, and mutilated "I Will Always Love You". What a load of overproduced, pretentious carp. Dolly's simple, heartfelt rendition was orders of magnitude better. In my humble opinion, of course. :)

Completely agreed! On all counts. And I have Ahmet and Dweezil's BOMT and it's awesome I listen to it all the time. Ha!
