Being semi employed has its advantages I guess, because I can actually do this each night this season!

Carrie (1976)

The poster, I remember it scared me. I was 11 when this came out so of course didn't see it then. Read the book the following year, and saw the movie a bit later. Still one of my favorite adaptations of Stephen King's work. Is it me or is there about a 10 minute chunk of movie missing any more? I somehow remember Carrie's walk home from the prom being a bit longer.

Oct 6
The Sentinel (1976)

Okay this had a pretty darned cool cast. Jeff Goldblum, Burgess Meredith, Christopher Walken, Beverly DeAngelo, John Carradine to name a couple. Made up for the so-so scares. There were some freaky things though.
It's your typical satanic spooky, this one about a model who moves into her new apartment to find it serves as the gateway to hell and that she is to be it's next guardian.

Oct 7
Nosferatu (1922)

Just really atmospheric and it's part of my Halloween viewing every year. Silent film, and creeeeeeeeepy. Max Schreck was just great as the vampire. Also see "Shadow of the Vampire" in which Willem Dafoe plays Schreck as if he really WERE a vampire.

Oct 8
Night of the Living Dead (1968)

It's just the classic zombie film. "They're coming to get you, Barbra!"

Oct 9
White Zombie (1932)

What many claim is the first zombie film. Anyway it's got Bela Lugosi so that makes it all good.

Didn't watch a movie, rather, ending up getting engrossed in some paranormal things on cable. Celebrity Ghost Stories being one of them. Debi Mazar talked about moving into a house that she found out was haunted by the ghost of the owner's (a friend of hers) grandfather, Barry Williams talking about his father's death and some occurences, Sammy Hagar talking about the ghost of Van Halen's late manager coming to him one night... it was entertaining. There are new ones each week, I'll take a peek and see what other stuff comes up.

Tonight's Movie:
Haven't decided yet. To be announced! :)

[REC] !!!!!

I beg of you, rent [REC] (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1038988/). Not the American remake ("Quarantine"), but the original. It's been a LONG time since a movie scared me that much! It's still in new releases at video stores, AFAIK.

Did I ever tell you about the coolest thing my uncle & I ever did at Hallowe'en? In 2001, at one of the oldest and fanciest theatres in Toronto, there was a screening of Murnau's Nosferatu...accompanied by the Toronto Symphony in the orchestra pit! It was FANTASTICALLY creepy, all of the patrons very well-dressed (and, weirdly, everyone wore only black and red; there was no dress code given, so it was bizarre to see that, especially since the theatre itself is all black velvet seats and red velvet curtains... o.O!!), and having the orchestra right there, playing live as the film was shown, was a once in a lifetime experience.

I have heard so much good about [REC] that I am definitely going to head over and see if I can get a copy at Blockbuster here. Everyone has told me I need to see that one so yes, I will. :)

And that does sound like an extremely incredible way to see "Nosferatu". I would love to experience like that sometime. I wonder if I can find somewhere cool like that that is doing it like that?
