They're in! Here are the 2011 Oscar Nominations! I will also give you my picks.
Where do you think the main awards are going to go? Is there something not nominated that you feel deserved to be? Impart. Discuss. Yes, I spent a long time working up this entry. Haha! There are a couple films I need / want to see yet, "The Fighter" "The Kids Are All Right" and "Winter's Bone" specifically. I don't think I can handle "127 Hours" though I heard a lot about it and well know the story.
Best Picture (10 nominees)
Note: (*) means I've seen the film.

My observations and pick:
Toy Story 3 will win in the animated feature category. I have a "thing" against animated films being nominated for best picture. I don't know why but I do, I just feel that they don't "belong". Or something. That said, what is my pick? Oh this is hard!
I'm going with "The King's Speech".
Best Director
Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan)
David O. Russell (The Fighter)
Tom Hooper (The King's Speech)
David Fincher (The Social Network)
Joel and Ethan Coen (True Grit)
My observations and pick:
I love this group and it's another category that's hard to choose. But I have it down between Fincher and Aronofsky and I would like to see Aronofsky get this one.
Best Actor
Javier Bardem (Biutiful)
Jeff Bridges (True Grit)
Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network)
Colin Firth (The King's Speech)
James Franco (127 Hours)
My observations and pick:
All are fantastic. I have it down between Javier Bardem and Colin Firth and I'd give it to Firth just because I loved him in this film, and I love him in general. :)
Best Actress
Annette Bening (The Kids Are All Right)
Nicole Kidman (Rabbit Hole)
Jennifer Lawrence (Winter's Bone)
Natalie Portman (Black Swan)
Michelle Williams (Blue Valentine)
My observations and pick:
A VERY strong group of actresses and all amazing roles. I just have a feeling it's going to be between Natalie Portman and Nicole Kidman and I'd have to give this to Nicole. I felt like this was a career best performance on Nicole's part. Natalie has the Golden Globe in this category, give Nic the Oscar.
Best Supporting Actor
Christian Bale (The Fighter)
John Hawkes (Winter's Bone)
Jeremy Renner (The Town)
Mark Ruffalo (The Kids Are All Right)
Geoffrey Rush (The King's Speech)
My observations and pick:
I have this between Bale and Rush. I have a feeling it'll go to Rush
even though Bale won this category at the Globes.
Best Supporting Actress
Amy Adams (The Fighter)
Helena Bonham Carter (The King's Speech)
Melissa Leo (The Fighter)
Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit)
Jacki Weaver (Animal Kingdom)
My observations and pick:
Melissa got the Golden Globe in this category and I think the love will
carry over to the Academy Awards as well.
Best Animated Feature Film
How To Train Your Dragon
Illusionist
Toy Story 3
My observations and pick:
DUH! Toy Story 3. Which is the category it needs to win in.
