London 2012 Olympic Closing Ceremony.
Aug. 13th, 2012 03:31 pmThere was some epicness, to wit:
Annie Freaking LENNOX!
Brian May's uh-mayzing guitar solo!
George Michael's "Freedom"! NBC cut his performance of his new single "White Light".
Madness and The Pet Shop Boys! OMG I was in High School again. LOL!
The Spice Girls! All five of them! Fierce!
The tribute to John Lennon had me tearing up a bit. It was lovely.
David Bowie started up, and I was like OMG IS HE THERE??? And big tease, he actually was not. But the fashion tribute featuring Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell was really cool anyway, I liked it.
ERIC. IDLE. OMG.
Fatboy Slim and his amazing techno octopus. Whatever that was. But he was cool.
I normally can't stand Russell Brand but he was pretty... okay here.
Ed Sheeran, Nick Mason, Mike Rutherford and Richard Jones doing "Wish You Were Here"!!
Damn that One Direction song being so catchy and me having a soft spot for boy bands! DAMN IT!
Beady Eye (used to be Oasis) performing "Wonderwall". I had to laugh at a comment I saw perusing the internet today that said "... the Olympics can bring the countries of the world together in the spirit of sportsmanship and brotherhood, but it couldn't bring the Gallaghers together for one freaking song." . Or something like that. Haha! Oh Liam. LOL
And there was suckage, to wit:
Jessie J wrecking "We Will Rock You". Whose idea was it to put her with Queen singing in Freddie's place? I was thinking it would have been cool for Freddie to have been hologrammed or something like that. But EW Jessie J. EW. No. She even ruined The Bee Gees.
NBC apparently cut Ray Davies singing "Waterloo Sunset", The Who performing "Baba O'Riley" , "See Me, Feel Me" and "My Generation", as well as Muse performing the freaking OFFICIAL SONG OF THE 2012 LONDON GAMES, "Survival" so go see those HERE. You're welcome.
Off to try and scrounge up some stuff from the concert at Hyde Park that was going on simultaneously featuring Blur (!), New Order and The Specials.
