hippie_chick: (Madonna / lucky star)

Madonna's eponymous first album turns 30 years old today. I remember having heard "Everybody" and "Lucky Star" a time or two. Frankly, didn't pay an awful lot of attention. It wasn't until I saw the video for "Borderline" that I thought 'this girl is going to be BIG'. It was actually my first real glimpse of her.

As an artist, Madonna would grow greatly in style and scope. For better or worse at times. 30 years on, this is a simple album, but it still stands up to me as a pretty nice dance-pop record. Just fun, and all it cared about was getting you out on the dance floor. Madonna wanted to be the biggest star in the world, and this album started her ascension.
